At seven this morning I was making a key lime pie that Brian had been asking me to make for a while.
“Hmm.” Because of the lime zest, this key lime pie looks like it has pickles piece throughout. I didn’t zest the lime very well by the looks of the pie. I [...]

Brian and his class went on a field trip today to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Carrie chaperoned and I watched Nicky.
I wanted to get a picture of Brian before he left. Nicky thought I meant him also and ran over to get his picture taken.
I took Nicky outside and he and I picked flowers [...]

This is going to be a pretty lame post. I am testing out some pictures as well as keeping my promise to post everyday in the month of April. Can she do it folks?
Today was a very simple day. I moped around the house and walked from the front door to the kitchen window wondering [...]

Although we all had a wonderful time celebrating Nicky’s birthday, I was a little disappointed at the shots I got of the day. In my defense, it is a new camera and I haven’t had much time to get the feel of a new camera.
Irregardless, Carrie made and decorated the cake. This was her first [...]

The other day I was carrying my camera and knelt down to pick up Shadow’s bowl and I lost my balance. To catch myself I put my hand out-yes, the hand holding the camera-and smashed my camera lens on the floor. We have cement floors so you can imagine that my poor camera didn’t have [...]

I received a couple of responses to my question-”Give me your ideas on how you would use these marshmallows in a recipe.”-in my previous post Marshmallows Get The Raspberry .
Here are a couple of great ideas by:
Lisa- …”those marshmallows would be good in some kind of jell-o salad.”

My homemade Raspberry Marshmallows I made yesterday before I made the Lemon Meringue Tea Tarts.
These marshmallows have a denser texture than the ones purchased. There are no egg whites in this recipe.
Raspberry Marshmallows

¼ cup cold water
¾ cup water
2 cups of sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla
1½ teaspoon raspberry flavor or flavor of your choice

What are red, orange and yellow bell peppers. They are simply a ripened green bell pepper harvested at different stages of ripeness. I love the vibrant colors and couldn’t resist taking a picture.
We had purchased some of these beauties to make pepper steaks. I bought a beef rib eye roast, froze it and then partially unfroze it [...]

Today I made a coffee syrup. Tom went out to purchase some espresso powder for me and came home with a cheaper type espresso powder (PILON) as the grocery stores around here have discontinued the brand that I use (Medaglia D’Oro Caffè Espresso Instant) when I make cappuccino ice cream. The Medaglia D’Oro brand has an authentic taste of espresso [...]

Yesterday, Tom took me to a coffee shop not far from my house. He had been there about two months and was excited to tell me about the place. Where I live, coffee houses are nonexistent. People here are partial to sweet tea and when they did a demographics study to see if a Dunkin’ [...]

As with most Catholics, I have a few crucifixes hanging around the house. This is something that is just the norm in our house. I rarely notice them since I have lost some faith. Yet, it would just seem wrong to take them down.
However today, with the Pontiff’s visit to the U.S., I took note [...]

No, I haven’t been on a bender or had a “pahdee” while Tom was away. However, with the way I felt this morning when I awoken, one would have thought that I did just that.
I awoke this morning with another head and neck ache. It is one of those headaches that last all day. Nothing [...]
