Foundation ch: multiple of 3 + 2
Row 1 (right side):
In 5th ch from hook work (sc, hdc, dc); rep from * across to last 3 chs; sk next 2 chs, dc in last ch. Ch 2 turn.
Row 2:
In next dc work (sc, hdc, dc); * sk next 2 sts, in next dc work (sc, hdc, dc); rep from * to beg 4 skipped chs; sk next 2 chs, dc in next ch. Ch 2, turn.
Row 3:
*In next dc work (sc, hdc, dc); sk next 2 sts; rep from * to turning ch-2; dc in 2nd ch of turning ch-2. Ch 2 turn.
Rep Row 3 for desired length. At end of last row, do not ch 2; do not turn.
On the last row after the desired length, I continued the pattern until I got to the middle. I made a button hole in the middle of the purse by chaining 3, then skipping some of the pattern, then continued on with the pattern to the end.
I single crocheted all around the piece making 3 single crochets in each of the four connors and 3 single crochets in the button hole loop.
Fold the bottom up to the center and whip stitch each side closed evenly. Weave in all ends, sew button to front of purse where the button hole is.
