Espresso Syrup For Iced Cappuccino

In one of my previous posts-Espresso Syrup Was A Bust, I made coffee syrup using espresso power to make iced cappuccino. I got a request to post the recipe for the syrup.  The reason I thought it was a bust was because of the instant espresso that I used.  I used a brand I had never used before and found that I didn’t like it as well as I did with the brand that I was familiar with.  But, it still made a delicious glass of iced cappuccino.  With that said, I have posted the recipe below.

iced cappuccino

Espresso Syrup (for iced cappuccino, etc)

1 quart of water
9 Tablespoons instant espresso (Caffè Espresso Instant or PILON)
2½ cups granulated sugar

  • Add all ingredients to pan and carefully boil for ½ hour.
  • Let it cool completely, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Pour syrup into a bottle and store in the refrigerator.  It will thicken more in the refrigerator.

*To make a glass of iced cappuccino:  Add a shot (more of less to suit your taste) of the syrup to a glass, fill glass with ice and add milk.  Stir and enjoy.
*Or, add the ingredients into a blender to make a frozen cappuccino.
*For a cappuccino with a kick, add a shot of liqueur such as amaretto, vodka, brandy before stirring or blending.

Note:  If one is so inclined, you can add 1-2 cups of vodka and make Kahlúa® or brandy for a coffee flavored brandy after the syrup cools completely before bottling.

  1. Hi Liz wow this coffee drink looks delicious, I’ll be right over and we can stir up trouble talking politics! LOL! I love these kind of coffee drinks on a hot summer day. I will have to try to remember to save this recipe.
I so agree with with what you said at my blog the other day. Steve got the memo at work today that they are covering all GM warranty’s per the government. Steve says he now works for Government Motors.
I’m so glad you liked the gift, and it made you smile. I didn’t make the bag, but it’s very cute. I thought they were smaller when I purchased them online, and when I got them they were so big so I use them for gifts, they are perfect for the Bath and Bodyworks. I love that stuff. Yes, I’ve been reading your blog for a few years and I can see that you don’t do much for yourself. You truly do think of your family first and always. I think you deserved something special just for you. That little prayer you sent me makes me cry every-time I read it, it’s the most thoughtful precious prayer anyone has ever written to me. God put you in my heart and prayers every since you wrote that and also you had been going through such a difficult time yourself with the car accident your daughter was in, if I remember correctly. It not it was soon after or slightly before. Well after all your hard workouts in the garden you can take a shower and spray on the Body splash and put the lotion on. I thought it smelled really good I hope you like the scent. Enjoy! big hugs

  2. Hi Liz, I should look for instant espresso while I’m here, since I haven’t seen any at home. We had thunderstorms this morning and there was a Tornado watch for areas nearby. That’s one attraction I don’t mind missing. *hugs*

  3. That is awesome! Thank you so much! I was brainstorming frantically yesterday but then decided it was more of a weekend project (what I want to use it for, that is) so this is great, will have to try. (I don’t drink coffee or make it much either, so I was totally at a loss.) I will definitely try making this as soon as I have time 🙂

PS Nope, not all of NY is full of Yankees fans, ugh! I’m a Mets fan… and as you know, today & tomorrow, they are playing the Red Sox. I have tickets on the field level at the new stadium 🙂
