English Muffins

A couple of weeks ago, I watched Alton Brown make English muffins. During that episode, I remembered that I had some muffin rings. Years ago I made some and didn’t quite like them. Alton Brown’s recipe looked and sounded so much better.Β  So today I made a batch of his English muffins.

His recipe said to use a #20 ice cream scoop and place 2 scoops into each ring. That was too much batter to add to each ring. They came out too high and took too long to toast.

Tom tried one this evening and said they were too heavy and dense.

Oh, well.Β  The rings go back in hiding until I come across a better recipe.

  1. I’m back again. It was the middle of the night when I visited and I’d not heard of the flooding in Georgia. Are you safe and ok? Please let me know. I feel so awful for your state. HUGS and GOD BLESS!

  2. Ciao Liz, I’m visiting your Flickr πŸ™‚ Yummy-looking English Muffins πŸ™‚ Zeno and I like them so much. Zeno with Nutella or jam, I prefer them with ham. πŸ˜‰
We don’t get stunning Fall colors here… compared to Italy or Maryland πŸ™‚ but they are nice enough.
Fall starts tonight at 9:18 PM UK time. So it’s still summer right now, yay! πŸ™‚
    Hugs!!! Have a wonderful day!

  3. Hi Liz: I made crumpets once and they were heavy, too. I’ve never tried again, either. I do like Alton Brown, though. I did his Red Beans and Rice {he uses pickled pork with them}. It was time consuming, but well worth the effort. I make a huge batch about every 3 months. It freezes great.

    Have a lovely day.
