4 cups of all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
6 egg
¾ cups of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ -¾ teaspoon anise oil or *2-3 teaspoons anise extract

In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, beat together sugar and shortening until creamy. Add eggs one at a time and beat after each egg.

In a small bowl or a glass measuring cup, add milk, vanilla, and anise-mix all together.

Add dry ingredients to the sugar, egg and shortening mixture alternately with liquids. Mixing well after each addition.

Follow manufactures instructions on how to cook your pizzelles.
(My iron is 30 years old and I gage the cooking time by-if I think they are ready.)

*I usually use more than a ½ bottle of anise extract as it is not as powerful as the anise oil.
