Grilled Pizza

Today we grilled pizza. I made some pizza dough and pizza sauce.

I must say that grilling pizza is much easier than the cooking it in a kitchen oven.  You don’t have to heat up the house by turning on the oven.

First you roll out the dough about an 1/8-inch thick. Brush the rolled dough with olive oil (I made garlic flavored olive oil). Carefully, place oiled side down on hot grill then brush the top side with oil. Grill until lightly browned.  The dough will puff-up a bit.  Carefully brush any bubbles down with your olive oil dipped brush.

With tongs, carefully flip dough over and start building your pizza with your sauce, cheese, fresh basil, etc.

Carrie and I made a vegetarian with mozzarella cheese, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, sauteed onions, black olives and fresh basil.

The pizza sauce was nothing more than a can or crushed tomatoes, roasted garlic, salt, pepper, a little sugar, and oregano.

A quick and easy Saturday dinner.

  1. Hey Liz, happy Tuesday! The pizza looks yummy (I love veggies on my pizza) and the two tiny hats you crocheted for Elizabeth are so pretty, well done! Have a fantastic week, hope you are enjoying some nice weather. *hugs*
